W3C – WORLD WIDE WEB CONSORTIUM

The World Wide Web Consortium is an international community that develops standards to ensure the long-term growth of the Web. Member organisations, a full-time staff and the general public work together, led by the web’s founder Tim Berners-Lee and its CEO Jeffrey Jaffe, to develop web standards. The W3C mission is to guide the World Wide Web to its full potential.

The Consortium is based on the principle of universality. This universality means access to the web for everybody, giving it a social value that enables human communication, commerce and opportunities to share knowledge. One of W3C’s main goals is to make the web’s benefits available to everybody, whatever their equipment, infrastructure, language or culture.

As a W3C member, the BiscayTIK Foundation has the chance to interact and work closely with web experts, companies and organisations; to take part in strategic management by assessing proposals; and to participate in the W3C’s Working Groups. Besides, being part of the Consortium has many advantages, for example, access to information of interest, participation at advisory meetings, and the promotion and visibility obtained by supporting this group.
